Lili Theilen is currently studying in the context-painting class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In her works she deals with the realities of life for female and queer people. The question of power structures in art history and queer visibility in public space are reflected in Theilen's work. Performance and painting often go hand in hand. Thus with interactive performances, she tries to develop new accessible spaces.
In 2023, she led and organized the performance workshop "(un)making silence". She was a tutor with Prof. Pia Linz and Petra Trenkel from 2022 to 2023. Her education includes an Erasmus semester at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2023, a diploma in painting at the Berlin Weißensee Art Academy from 2019 to 2023 and studies in art history and philosophy at the University of Heidelberg from 2018 to 2019.
She won the national competition in German language and literature/short stories in 2017. Her projects have been exhibited in various galleries and exhibition spaces in Berlin, Paris and Le Mans, including "Culterim Gallery", "Kunstraum Potsdamerstraße", and "28 Rue Saint-Gilles".
